My Journey as a Freelance Massage Therapist
Have you ever thought of what do you want to do in your life? In my case, I did not saw massage therapy coming and everyday I'm still surprised on where my passion in massage therapy takes me.
Flashback: Childhood Go-To Massage Therapist
When I was a child, probably about 10 years old, my family members especially my grand mother always calls me if they feel body pains, sick or if they just want me to "massage them."
As a child with no background at all on this type of alternative healing, I got annoyed because I knew back then that it was more of a responsibility rather than to make them feel good or to "give back."
Yes, as early as 10 years old, massage therapy was introduced to me as "hilot." This is a known Filipino style of massage therapy that uses oil mixes like coconut oil or "baby oil."

Back then, I definitely had no idea about the strokes and proper way to do it. I just use my hands to glide the oil and put pressure by pressing the muscles slowly while being so attentive to their requests.
It was later in my life when I realized that massage therapy is more that just an experience. I realized that it is my ability to make a person "feel good," relaxed or relieved even just an hour of their busy days.

For me, it was satisfying, more like, it gave me happiness to see them free from stress. Thus, my purpose.
With this, I keep on asking the above through prayers to give me a job that will provide for me, a job that is stable and a job which I love to do the most.
In 2017 when I was asking for a sign, there was still no answer. I decided to do massage therapy as a side job. With no training whatsoever just my inate skills, I decided to open an "app" just to see if there would be someone who would be interested to hire me to earn an extra money.
First few sessions I felt nervous that my hands were shaking and don't know what to do. I don't wanna mess up. I don't wanna fail my client.
When I noticed that some of my clients in our place keeps on requesting me again for a session. It built my confidence and told myself that I need to formalize this craft so that I will not humiliate myself and offer the price I deserve. After 6 months of weekly trainings, I finally got my certificate and the rest is history.
